Morgan's not in London anymore...

Cologne!
The German language is very confusing. Nothing sounds like I thought it would, but everyone speaks English which makes it easy. I feel like the dumb American, though, going into McDonald's and realizing that the people ho work there speak more languages than I do.
We met up with one of Frank's friends who is in the army in Manheim.
He's been taking us out and trying to get us very drunk. Unfortunatly,
we don't have the budget or the clothes required for that, so his
friend is a little ticked off. Frank is being a little bit of a jerk
about it, so things are a little tense. It'll pass in a day or so. Its also tense because his friend wants to go out to eat a lot, which is okay, except that he wants to go to pizza places and refuses to understand that I can't eat pizza. And we all know that when I get hungry, I get cranky. Mostly, the friend is just a different type of person (and different type of traveler) than we are.
Cologne doesn't have a lot to see. There's a really huge old cathedral
that was amazng. We climbed to the top today (519 steps) and got some amazing views of the ugliness that is Cologne. We wandered around the city and Frank and his friend caught up on high school memories. The hostel that we're in right now is a little crappy. We have a quad to ourselves, but we have to share a bathroom that smells a bit like urine, and the windows are very thin so we can hear the street noise. On the plus side, they have free internet. The food here is decent, very heavy, but pretty tasty. I'm venturing over to the dark side and eating meat. Its nearly impossible to find food that's gluten free here, especially in restaurants, so Im enjoying the sausages here. Last night was bokwurst and I expect a repeat tonight.

Tomorrow we leave for Paris and I'm super excited about that. I can speak the language again!

I'm getting excited about coming home and eating normal food on my couch with my dog begging to lick the plate.
